We use more and more kinds of rubber hose in our life, because of the usage and material of rubber hose are different, rubber hose will be aging at any time, but the aging degree is not the same. Oxygen acetylene hose, known as rubber welding hose, is one of the most common rubber hoses. The hose aging will greatly affect the work efficiency. Therefore, it is especially important to understand the causes of aging of oxygen acetylene hose. Let’s take a look:

Temperature

Each type of rubber hose can withstand different temperatures, so it is important to find the right temperature for the rubber hose.

(1) The temperature is too high: if the temperature is too high, it will lead to the curing agent in the material which is not fully reacted to continue to harden. And for the non-vulcanized rubber, its performance such as hardness will be reduced, the elasticity and toughness will also be reduced, which is not conducive to the transportation of materials. And the temperature increase will also promote the oxidation reaction of oxygen and rubber hose reaction speed, accelerate the aging of oxygen acetylene tube.

(2) The temperature is too low: if the temperature is too low, the hose will be brittle, causing the hose to be vulnerable to damage, thus causing the rubber pipe to age easily.

Oxidation reaction

Oxygen in rubber has free radical chain reaction with rubber molecules, and molecular chain breaks or overcrosslinks, which causes the change of rubber properties. Oxidation is one of the important reasons for rubber aging, but the air will always contain oxygen, so the aging of rubber (oxidation reaction) is carried out all the time.

Water

Although the rubber hose is waterproof, but if you work in a dark and wet environment for a long time, or soak in water for a long time, the same will cause the aging of the rubber hose. This is because the rubber hose in the production process will add some auxiliary agents, and there will be some water-soluble substances in these auxiliary agents. So a long time of contact with water, will make it hydrolyze, not only will reduce the performance of the rubber hose, but also may cause damage to the structure of the hose.

Ozone

Ozone chemical activity is much higher than oxygen, more destructive, it is the same to break the molecular chain, but the effect of ozone on rubber is different with the rubber deformation.

When used for rubber deformation, there is a crack perpendicular to the direction of stress action, that is, the so-called “ozone crack”. When acting on the deformed rubber, only the surface of the oxide film is generated without cracking.

The above is the cause of oxygen acetylene hose aging.
